Xcalibur recommends grants to use a service naming convention when creating services in SCRIBE.
Benefits of Service naming conventions:
- Standardized way to name services
- Everyone uses it so everyone speaks the “language”
- Makes services easy to find
- Within SCRIBE
- On exports and reports
- Sort & categorize like services together
- Within SCRIBE
- On exports and reports
To create a service name in SCRIBE using Xcalibur's service naming convention use the following:
Duration.ServiceType.Description.MMMYYYY.School
Duration: OneT or Rec
OneT services have are intended to be a one time event. Example: A two day trip to a college campus, or a one day FAFSA event.
Rec services are intended to be a recurring service over a long period of time. Example: a mentoring service which occurs twice a month over the course of the school year, or a tutoring service which is offered every Tues/Thurs from October-May.
Service Type: abbreviation found on the service taxonomy.
Description: additional info regarding the service
e.g., name of the workshop, name of the college visited
MMM: first 3 letters of the month (Oct, Jan, May, etc.)
YYYY: year (2020, 2021, 2022, etc.)
School: school abbreviation
Examples:
Rec.TMA.Afterschool.Oct2022.BMS - a recurring math tutoring service that occurs afterschool in the month of October 2022 at Bayside Middle School
OneT.STP.SATTestPrep.Mar2023.WBHS - a one time standardized test prep for SAT testing in the month of March 2023 at West Beverly High School
